Our MA program provides students with the training and skills to succeed in a professional career in global affairs, while taking advantage of Rome's unique location as a major center for policymaking, connecting Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Atlantic.

MASTER'S IN ART HISTORY

Our program guides students toward professional mastery of the materials and methods of art history with emphasis on first-hand research in the museums, monuments, and archaeological sites of Rome.

MA IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

The degree program can be completed in three semesters of full-time study (Fall-Spring-Fall). It unfolds in three phases: a structured Foundation Year, followed by a Comprehensive Exam in international affairs and then a final Capstone Term. MA IN ART HISTORY

John Cabot University's Master of Arts (MA) in Art History cultivates professional mastery of the materials and methods of the history of art with emphasis on first-hand study in the museums, monuments, and archives of Rome. The program welcomed its inaugural class in Fall 2017. It is the first graduate degree program in Art History offered by a U.S. accredited university to be based entirely in Rome. Is JCU accredited?

John Cabot University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 1007 North Orange Street, 4th Floor, MB #166, Wilmington, DE 19801. (267-284-5000) www.msche.org. The MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). 

Are classes taught in English?

Yes, all graduate classes are taught entirely in English.

Do I need a Visa?

If you are from the United States or another country that is not a member of the European Union, you need a study visa to be able to study at JCU. The visa is mandatory by Italian law and must be obtained before you arrive. Students who have EU or Swiss citizenship do not need a study visa.

Does JCU offer scholarships and financial aid?

Yes, JCU helps graduate students meet their educational goals through a focused, merit-based graduate tuition grant program. Other forms of financial aid include scholarships, federal loans, and private loans.

Does JCU have housing?

Yes, we have a limited number of graduate studio apartments intended for single or double occupancy, located within walking distance from our campuses. Students may also apply to live in shared apartments located in Trastevere or in nearby neighborhoods. All apartments are fully furnished, and amenities include free wireless internet, heating, washing machines, and secured building access.

Early Action: February 1

Regular Decision: March 15

Late Decision I*: May 1

Late Decision II**: June 30

Full Payment Deadline: July 15

*Last deadline for students who need JCU housing and/or a study visa
**Only available to students who do not require a study visa
